Troubleshoot an Issue

Are you experiencing unexpected behavior on a Web Platform site? If you experience technical issues, the following instructions may resolve your problem. One of the most common issues that you may run into on the site concerns changes you made that do not display on the page.

The most likely cause is an outdated cache. The Web Platform has your updated change however there is a cache that prevents you from seeing the update. A cache is used to keep some content in a location closer to you so the page will load faster. Several different caches operate simultaneously including your web browser, your Internet provider and the Web Platform to name just a few. Usually these caches update on their own without you noticing but sometimes there is a technical issue. Two examples of common cache issues are:

  • You have updated content on the site but you do not see this reflected on the page.
  • You have updated a document but the site still links to the old document.

Clearing your Browser Cache

  1. In the Safari app on your Mac, choose "History" > "Clear History," then click the pop-up menu.
